Modern Slavery Statement.
The steps Kingsley Crest takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
Our commitment
Kingsley Crest Ltd has zero tolerance of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and worker exploitation. As a payroll and workforce provider that employs and pays workers placed by recruitment agencies, we recognise that temporary labour supply chains can carry particular risks, and we design our processes to detect and prevent them.
We are not currently required to publish a statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We publish this statement voluntarily because our clients and workers are entitled to know how we manage these risks.
Our business and supply chains
Kingsley Crest provides umbrella, CIS, PAYE, PEO and payroll bureau services from Wigan to clients across the UK, in sectors including construction, logistics, healthcare, education and social care. Our supply chain includes recruitment agencies, end clients, the workers we employ or pay, and suppliers of software, IT, banking, pensions and professional services.
How we work with workers
- Workers register with us directly and give us their own identity, contact and bank details.
- We complete identity and right to work checks before anyone is paid.
- Payments are made only to a bank account in the worker's own name.
- We contact workers directly where anything needs clarifying, rather than relying only on information supplied by third parties.
- Workers receive full payslips showing every deduction.
Warning signs we look for
Our team is alert to indicators of exploitation, including:
- Several workers sharing the same bank account, address, phone number or email.
- Third parties trying to register, give instructions or change bank details on behalf of workers.
- Workers who appear unable to speak for themselves or seem to be under someone else's control.
- Unusual or duplicated information across apparently unrelated workers.
Some of these can have innocent explanations, such as family members sharing a home, so we look at the whole picture before acting.
Training
Modern slavery awareness forms part of the induction for everyone who onboards or pays workers. Staff are encouraged to question anything that looks wrong rather than simply process it.
Reporting and response
Concerns are escalated to our Head of Payroll & Compliance. Depending on the circumstances, we may contact the worker independently, carry out further checks, suspend instructions, speak to the agency or client, and report the matter to the police or the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline. The safety of the potential victim comes first.
Anyone can report a concern to us at info@kingsleycrest.com, or to the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700.
Our suppliers and partners
We expect the agencies, clients and suppliers we work with to operate lawfully and to share our zero-tolerance approach. Our processes are independently reviewed through our Professional Passport accreditation.
